Youth Programs

2nd-6th Grade Youth Baseball & Softball2013 Baseball field

Open to all kids currently in  2nd-6th grades.  Algona plays in a traveling league with Emmetsburg, Bancroft, West Bend, Ruthven, Pocahontas, Whittemore and Graettinger.  Practices will begin in late April/early May. 

Games begin the week of May 21 through June 28 for 3rd-6th grades. 2nd grade Coach Pitch games are May 29-June 28. Games are held Monday-Thursday at 6:00 & 7:15 PM. Parents are responsible for transportation of their children to and from games. 
Volunteer coaches are needed for all teams. 

Leagues are split as follows (current grade):

  • 2nd grade, Coach Pitch
  • 3rd & 4th Grade, Minor League
  • 5th & 6th Grade, Major League

Cost is $25 per child. Registration deadline is Wednesday, March 14.  Late signups accepted only if teams are not already full.

12:30-5:00 PM

Explore beautiful Smith Lake and the Nature Center in this afternoon camp adventure that provides a variety of outdoor activities including forest and prairie exploration, games, crafts and story time.
